Math Fun with Fibonacci

Age:7 to 10 yrs

Duration: 45 minutes.

In this one time class, learners will be introduced to the Fibonacci sequence.  We will learn the background of Fibonacci and the number pattern he discovered.  I will use a slideshow to show the kids images of the Fibonacci sequence in nature. The kids will learn how to create the sequence starting with the number one, and we will draw the sequence on graph paper and the spiral it creates. They can then color their Fibonacci sequence picture. The kids will be able to interact with each other and me throughout class.

English comprehension intervention - using a graphic organizer

Age: 6 to 10 yrs.

Duration: 45 minutes.

when : February 12  at 9 a.m./10:30 a.m. / 5 p.m.PST

In class, students will use a graphic organizer to increase their reading comprehension skills.  I will begin class by introducing the graphic organizer.  The students will listen to a read aloud, and then we will use summarizing strategies to complete the graphic organizer together.  Students will use the graphic organizer to practice retelling.   Students should be able to read at grade level but may need support to comprehend the text.
